1.    Explain any two methods of conducting Boring in Soil Exploration.
2.    Explain the method of conducting Standard Penetration Test.
3.    Derive an expression for factor of safety of an infinite slope of slope angle α, height H and saturated unit weight γsat carrying seepage over the entire depth.
4.    Compute the corrected N value at the mid depth of each layer of the subsoil strata shown in below. 
 



5.    Explain the method of slices to compute the factor of safety of an infinite slope for a c-φ soil.
6.    Calculate the factor of safety of the slope given below. Take Cu = 25kN/m3 and Φ = 00 and angle of the slope is 450


 
7.    Explain the Culmann’s Graphical Method to determine the active earth pressure for a Cohesionless soil.
8.    Determine the magnitude and location of resultant active earth pressure for the soil deposit show below. 


9.    Explain different types of Retaining walls with neat sketches.
10. Explain the method of arriving at the factor of safety against overturning for a gravity type retaining wall.
