Assignment # 2

1.   Write Salient features of electronic total station and its uses?

2.  Objectives of Geodetic surveying. Briefly describe the applications of GIS?

3.  Describe various methods of setting out a horizontal curve

4.  Different types of leveling staffs its merit and demerits

5.  A tacheometer was set up at a station A and the readings on a vertically held staff at B were 2.258, 2.605 and 2.955, the line of sight being at an inclination of 8°24’. Another observation on the vertically held staff at B.M gave the reading 1.64,1.92 and 2.2, the inclination of line of sight being 1°6’. Calculate the horizontal distance between A and B and the elevation of B if the R.L of B.M is 418.685 m. the constants of the instruments were 100 and 0.3.

6.   A theodolite was set up at a distance of 250m from a tower. The angle of elevations to the top of the parapet was 8°48’ while the angle of depression on to the foot of the wall 2°36’. The staff reading on the B.M of R.L is 246.565 m with the telescope horizontal was 1.365 m . find the height of towers and the R.L of the top of the parapet?
