partially saturated soil sample has a natural moisture content of 16% and bulk
unit weight of 1.7gm/cc. The specific gravity of soil solids is 2.65. Determine
the degree of saturation, and void ratio. What will be unit weight of soil
sample on saturation. Draw the phase diagram.
4. A
soil has a bulk unit weight of 18kN/m3 and a water content of 5%. Calculate the
amount of water in litres required to be added to 1m3 of soil to raise the
water content to 15%. Assume the void ratio to be same. Take Gs = 2.6
5. (a) Explain the method of finding the
coefficient of permeability by constant
head permeability test.

Discuss the factors influencing the Permeability of soils.

the procedure involved in classification of soil as per Indian Soil
